Ross Bridge Junior Classic - 2010 7/19/2010 - 7/20/2010
Forrest Gamble of Birmingham and Katie Mitchell of Fernandina Beach, Fla., lead wire-to-wire en route to claiming the Overall titles at the inaugural SJGT Ross Bridge Junior Classic. The event was held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail’s Ross Bridge, which hosts the Champions Tour’s Regions Charity Classic.
Gamble, who opened with a 3-under-par 69, closed out the event with a 74, giving him a total of 143 and a one-shot win in the Male 16-19 Division. Will Joiner of Brentwood, Tenn., and Jake Tucker of Cullman, Ala., finished tied for second with scores of 74-70—144 and 71-73—144, respectively. Joiner took the second-place trophy due to a scorecard playoff.
Mitchell carded a final-round 75 to go along with a 72 for a 147 to take the Female 15-19 Division. Sydney Conrad (78-73) of Powder Springs, Ga., and Haley Zagoria (77-74) of Atlanta finished tied for second at 151. Conrad took the second-place trophy by virtue of a scorecard playoff.
In the Male 14-15 Division, Blake Messer of Hampton Cove, Ala., held on to his first-round lead to claim the division title. Messer finished with a 70-76—146. Tanner Dixon (80-72) of Hoover and Taylor Eyster (77-75) of Birmingham finished tied for second at 152. Due to a scorecard playoff, Dixon was awarded the second-place trophy.
Birmingham’s Patrick Martin won the Male 12-13 Division after shooting 71-72—143. Fischer Priestley of Birmingham was second with a 73-71—144, while Andy Ogletree of Little Rock, Miss., took third with a 75-70—145.
